ORDINANCE NO. 2018-6

AN ORDINANCE ENACTING AND ADOPTING A SUPPLEMENT TO THE CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE CITY OF MT. VERNON, INDIANA, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY FOR ITS ADOPTION

WHEREAS, American Legal Publishing Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio (ALPC), has completed the 2017 S-14 supplement to the Code of Ordinances of the City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, which supplement contains all ordinances of a general and permanent nature enacted since the prior supplement to the Code of Ordinances of Mt. Vernon, Indiana;

WHEREAS, ALPC has recommended the revision or addition of certain section of the Code of Ordinances which are based on or make reference to sections of the Indiana Code;

WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Common Council of the City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana to accept these updated sections in accordance with the changes of the law of the State of Indiana; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for the usual daily operation of the municipality and for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health safety and. general welfare of the municipality that this Ordinance take effect at an early date;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of Mt. Vernon, Posey County, Indiana, that:

1. The 2017 S-14 supplement to the Code of Ordinances of the City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, as submitted by ALPC, and as attached hereto, be and the same is hereby adopted by reference as if set out in its entirety.

2. Such supplement shall be deemed published as of the day of its adoption and approval by the Common Council and the City Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, is hereby authorized and ordered to insert such supplement in to the copy of the Code of Ordinances kept on file in the Office of the Clerk.

3. This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the peace, health, safety, and general welfare of the people of the City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and shall take effect at the earliest date provided by law.

4. The Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Fiscal impact statement: The fiscal impact of this Ordinance is the cost of the annual update in the amount of $1,928.06.
